Angels News: Lucas Giolito Addresses Halos Struggles Since the Trade
Ever since going all-in at the trade deadline and becoming buyers instead of sellers, the Angels haven't really figured out how to win games.
Since the deadline, they're 4-11 and are 2 games below .500.
It looked like the Halos were buying in to make a push for the postseason, but this slump they've been mired in just seems to get worse and worse.
The Angels top acquisition at the deadline, Lucas Giolito, doesn't seem too thrilled to be in the position they're in right now.
“It sucks,” said Giolito. “Baseball is a very tough sport. It’s a game of failure. Unfortunate how it’s played out. But at the same time, I know everybody in this room is putting in their best effort. It just hasn’t worked out well. So to turn it around, we’re just gonna have to play really, really, really, really good baseball. That’s all you can do.”

His personal numbers since being traded to the Angels don't look too hot either.
He's given up 19 runs over four starts, and his ERA went from a respectable 3.79 with Chicago, to an unbelievable 8.14 with Los Angeles.
He knows that baseball is a game of streaks, though, and that one quality start can change it all.
“It seems like I come out pretty strong, and then in the middle somewhere it gets iffy and then finish strong,” Giolito said. “But I think it’s about that time to put it together for a whole start, and then build off that.”

If the Angels want to prove to Shohei Ohtani that they are the team for him, then they need to start winning more games.
I know that sounds obvious, but so far the moves made at the deadline to "make him happy" don't seem to be panning out.
Now, there's still a lot of baseball to be played, and the most important month to get through is yet to come.
Winning games against contenders is what counts, so the Angels upcoming series against the Rays needs to be seen as a must-win.
There are plenty of opportunities to make up ground in the AL Wild Card race, but they have to start finding ways to win games.
Do you think the Angels will make it to the playoffs this year?
