Angels News: Mike Trout Activated off Injured List After Nearly 2-Month Stint
The Los Angeles Angels have dealt with a very frustrating season thus far. At one point they looked promising and as if their playoff drought would be ending. But then a few tough weeks of play saw them fall in the standings, and they haven’t been able to get back into contention.
There is still time life, but they find themselves quite a bit back of the final wild-card spot in the American League race. The clock is ticking on them to start turning things around, but they will be getting a major piece back in the mix.
Star outfielder Mike Trout is being activated off the injured list after almost a two-month stint dealing with a fractured left hamate. He hasn’t played since July 3rd, and his return should help boost this team heavily and could possibly give them a spark down the stretch.
The Angels have missed Trout badly in their lineup, so his presence alone should give them an edge. For the year, Trout is hitting .263 with 18 home runs and 44 runs batted in.
He is one of their leaders in the clubhouse and gives them another solid bat in the lineup to put fear into the opposing pitchers. The return of Trout should impact their offense greatly, as the Angels try to climb out of the hole, they are in.
Things aren’t looking great at the moment for the Halos, but weirder things have happened. It’s not over until they are mathematically eliminated from postseason play, so they will continue to fight to the end.
Especially considering that superstar Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season, the Angels have a reason to keep playing their best until the finish line.
With Trout coming back, it gives them a chance, even if the odds are looking bleak. Either way, the team gets their star back, and hopefully, he can remain healthy the rest of the way.
