With less than a week left in the regular season, the Los Angeles Angels are just trying to finish the year on a high note. It has been a frustrating year all around for the organization, and they know that this winter likely won’t make things any easier.

Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is likely to leave the organization as a free agent, and the team will need to figure out what their next move is. They need to get themselves back into being contenders consistently, rather than this current version of mediocrity.

Star outfielder Mike Trout opened up about this season, and once again, he will be missing the playoffs.

“Yeah, it’s frustrating,” Trout said. “It’s [feeling] better now, but I wanted to get back. It’s tough. It’s been hard on me. … I just want to be out there and injuries suck. All the hard work and stuff and just freak stuff happens. But [I’m] trying to stay positive.”

He has battled injuries throughout the second half of the season, and it has cost the team. Trout being out isn’t the reason why the Angels are missing the playoffs once again, but it certainly didn’t help anything. He wanted to be there for his teammates, so that is likely adding to the overall frustration for him.

“Coming into this season, I think the biggest thing was trying to be healthy and that was my goal,” Trout said. “Went into the offseason with a plan, hired a lot of people to work on my body. My body felt great and a freak thing happened. Broke my hand. Came back probably sooner than I should have, but I wanted to be out there with the guys.”

As he enters into the offseason, Trout doesn’t even know what will happen. He is expecting to be an Angel next season, but you never know what will happen over an offseason. For now, he just wants to get healthy and get back to being himself next season.

“Last few [rehab] sessions have been great, no pain,” Trout said. “I come in, hit, a little sore, but normal stuff. But the main goal once I got shut down was to get back and obviously get back to play with the guys. But the biggest thing now is just to make sure I’m healthy going into the offseason.”

The team has a ton of questions to answer this offseason about their future. So it should be a very interesting offseason for the Halos, Trout included.
