Angels News: Mike Trout Heading to IL With Left Hamate Fracture
Angels superstar Mike Trout left their game Monday against the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning after suffering what looked like a wrist injury. He grabbed his wrist in pain and every baseball fan started hoping for the best.
It's now been revealed that Trout will be heading to the injured list with a left hamate fracture. This is obviously a massive blow to the Angels roster as Trout has been a major piece in helping keep the Angels alive for a potential playoff spot.
Prior to this injury, the team was already dealing with a bunch of injuries to their roster. So this is the latest in a long line of them this season. LA will now need to figure out how to survive without one of the best players in the game as the trade deadline quickly approaches. Trout is expected to be out until at least August according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Trout was hitting .263/.369/.493 before the injury. The Angels announced that they would be recalling outfielder Jo Adell up to replace their injured star.
Trout spoke after the game on the injury and it was presumed to be a bad injury based on his comments.
"Just really uncomfortable," Trout said, explaining how his wrist felt. "I can't really describe it. I never felt it before, ever. I never had wrist problems or anything. Just a freak thing."

The Angels were barely hanging on by a thread prior to this so this stings. This was a team that finally saw some sense of relevancy this season and this is just another possible step backwards.
The team will now need to decide how to proceed with this season, especially with the impending free agency of superstar Shoehi Ohtani on the horizon.
