Angels News: Mike Trout Needs to Be The Superstar He is To Propel Halos to Postseason
The Angels are right in the thick of the playoff race and as we get closer to the trade deadline, one can wonder what direction the team decides to go in. For all their success this season, it has been considered a down year for superstar outfielder Mike Trout. Now, it's not really a down season but for Trout, the standard is raised higher.
If the Angels wants to get to the postseason, they are going to need their star to show up and play like it. Mike Axisa of CBS Sports listed a few things that the Angels need in order to reach the playoffs and Trout playing more effectively was one of them.
"The Angels will have their best chance to make the postseason with Trout performing like the best player in the world. This is the same player who hit 40 home runs with a 176 OPS+ last season."
Per CBSSports.com
On the season, Trout is hitting .250 with 15 home runs and 39 runs batted in. For most other players, that would be considered a good stat line. But it's a down year for Trout. He has only hit one home run over his last 10 games and went 0-7 in the Angels most recent series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Angels desperately need their star player to step up and produce. Shohei Ohtani is doing his part to keep the Angels alive for the playoffs so Trout needs to hold his weight.
If we know anything about Trout, he will eventually produce and when he does, it will come in bunches.
