Angels News: Mike Trout Passes MLB Legend in Career WAR
Current fans of the MLB are much luckier than they think. Say what you want about the Los Angeles Angels and their lack of putting together a well-rounded squad over the past couple of seasons but when Mike Trout has been available to play, he always places himself above the rest of his competition.
It's clear that behind superstar teammate Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout is another favorite to take home the 2023 AL MVP and that would mean he would have four of them in his resume. Few players in the history of the game have been a bigger threat than the 31-year-old when he steps up to the plate and it's great to see the Halos finally surrounding him with some legit help.
Trout was also a big reason as to why the Angels were able to split an important series recently against the Baltimore Orioles. Their postseason hopes are still very much alive and his electric play is ensuring that.
Fans could not help but reminisce on an old, legendary catch he made against the Orioles in the past.
However, Trout also keeps cracking the record books in a numerous amount of ways. He just passed up Ken Griffey Jr. in career WAR.
"For the record, Trout, 31, has now amassed 84.0 WAR - a statistic designed to quantify a player's overall contributions beyond that of a replacement-level player - since his 2011 debut. That edges him past Griffey (83.8) and Pedro Martinez (83.9 - though pitcher WAR is decidedly less effective) into 56th place all-time. Trout will soon pass pitcher Fergie Jenkins (84.2) and by season's end, should vault Chipper Jones (85.3) and perhaps knock pitcher Robin Roberts (86.2) out of the top 50 all-time."

We cannot wait to see our leader continue breaking records and growing his legacy.
