In a fated matchup in this spring's World Baseball Classic, Team Japan and Team USA squared off to determine the international champion of this year's rendition of the tournament in March.

It came down to a matchup of two of the game's greatest of all time to decide the championship. Those two legends just so happened to be Angels teammates as Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout faced off in a matchup for the ages.

Commemorating the moment by signing cards of the event, Trout's face in his tweet hilariously depicts that it was Ohtani who came out on top to win Japan the WBC trophy in a bit of friendly fire.

For baseball fans everywhere, it was a joy to see both Trout and Ohtani duke it out on the international stage with the games being described by some on Team USA to be the most fun they've ever had playing the game.

Ohtani came on in the ninth inning to close out the game with the Japanese clinging to a 3-2 lead. After giving up a walk to the Mets' Jeff McNeil, Ohtani got Dodger Mookie Betts to ground into a double play.

This set up the matchup that scriptwriters could only wish to devise on the grandest of stages. Trout stepped into the box down by one run and a chance to tie the game against his teammate.

A fierce battle, Trout eventually struck out and Ohtani was named the MVP of the tourney, picking up the save and earning some international hardware.

As teammates this season, Ohtani and Trout haven't exactly had a year to remember as a duo.

Despite being the runaway favorite for the AL MVP award, Ohtani's counterpart in the lineup has been shelved for a decent portion of the year with a wrist issue.

While Trout recovers and Ohtani is still producing, it's still very nice to see both Halos superstars collaborating to sign off on one of modern baseball's most iconic moments from earlier this spring.
