Angels News: Mike Trout to Miss Both Games of Doubleheader Just One Day After Return from IL
Just one day after getting Mike Trout back in the lineup after a long absence, he's now set to miss both games of Wednesday's doubleheader as he continues to deal with soreness in his left wrist.
MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger was among those to report the update.
Trout missed 38 games after undergoing surgery to remove a broken hamate bone in his left wrist. The three time AL MVP returned on Tuesday, going 1-4 in a Halos loss. Admittedly, he rushed back from the IL as quickly as he could as the Angels' playoff hopes dwindled but announced himself ready enough to participate in the action, albeit without any minor league rehab games or anything beyond live batting practice.
The Angels and Trout said the outfielder expected to be playing sore through the rest of the season, but it's doubtful they planned on him missing time just one day after his return. He hasn't played a full season's worth of games since 2016.
Without Trout in the lineup, the Angels lost game one of the doubleheader by a final of 9-4 to the Reds. The club also saw Shohei Ohtani exit the game early as a pitcher as he dealt with arm fatigue.
More to come on the Mike Trout situation later.
