Angels News: MLB Insider Shares Hot Take Regarding Mike Trout's Hall of Fame Case
Mike Trout... one of the more interesting stories when it comes to the greatest players to every lace up a pair of cleats. He is one of the lone superstars in recent history to commit to a franchise through thick and thin like the Angels and remain as the face of the franchise.
Unfortunately, a mix of injuries and front office decisions have robbed the MLB world of seeing Trout play through October on the biggest stage. He has only been to the playoffs once in his career yet everybody knows how great he is regardless of that single stain on his resume.
But he is still only 31-years-old and even though he isn't getting any younger, the opportunities will remain for him to get that hardware he's been chasing so long. There's a fighting chance that his best running mate, Shohei Ohtani, could stay in Anaheim with him for the future and they could battle for the Halos' first championship since 2002.
Trout has already contributed so much to the game of baseball nonetheless and even through his long list of injuries, he remains doing everything he can to put on a show for the fans.
In 2023, he is slashing .280/.366/.532 and has 12 home runs through 48 games. He has played a huge role in ensuring that LA remains competitive in a very important season and has received a ton of support in the process.
Experts from The Athletic recently compiled a rankings list of all the current players and their likelihood to make it to the Hall of Fame and Trout was placed in the "In Right Now" club.
Jayson Stark went as far to say that Trout could retire in the next few days and have his spot ready for him immediately!
"He’s only 31, but this case is already closed. Trout whooshed past Joe DiMaggio in career homers this week (to 362). He just passed Ken Griffey Jr. in career Wins Above Replacement (to 83.9, according to Baseball Reference). He has already won more MVP awards (three) than Willie Mays (two) — and has nine top-five MVP finishes and more MVP Shares (based on his cumulative votes)
than all but three players in history.
So Trout could retire on Memorial Day and still start writing his speech. I hope he doesn’t!"

Greatness always speaks for itself and Trout's career is a prime example of this.
