Angels News: New AL Team Emerges in Ohtani Trade Rumors Amidst Tough Start
For many other teams in the MLB, a a 25-20 start would be quite solid. The Twins, Rangers, and Brewers all have similar records and sit at the top of their respective divisions. However, the Boston Red Sox find themselves in a wild AL East this season as they are five games over .500 and somehow sit in last place.
Not a lot of people coming into the year believed in the Red Sox to make a playoff push but they've turned a lot of heads thus far as now it's starting to become clear they're keeping their heads above water.
An Interesting Matchup Vs LA
But your Los Angeles Angels are also fighting for their own division and also came into the 2023 season with not a lot of believers backing them. Both clubhouses are set to face off against each other in a series at Angel Stadium next week.
And it's looking like baseball games may not be the only thing they'll be competing for. Shohei Ohtani is obviously LA's most prized position and this season is ride or die when looking at if he'll remain in a Halos uniform.
Experts at TWSN believe that Boston could jump on a potential drop in winning from the Angels and put together a nice trade package for Ohtani so they can separate themselves from the rest of their division.
"The Rays don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon and the Yankees could be in on Ohtani should he become a free agent. Boston only has one prospect inside the top 75 of MLB.com’s Top 100 prospects (Marcelo Mayer at number 5 overall), so he’d likely have to be packaged with other young talent and draft picks to get Ohtani. If the Red Sox can pull off a deal, they go from a cellar team in their division to a postseason contender immediately. Not only that, they keep an elite player like Ohtani out of the Yankees hands for the foreseeable future."

So could this upcoming series against Boston be a little more important than we initially perceived? I certainly think so and believe LA should do everything they can to win this one and sink any hopes of their superstar becoming available for trade.
