Angels News: Patrick Sandoval Discusses Tough Outing
The Los Angeles Angels suffered some tough losses in Thursday's matchup against the New York Yankees. Halos young catcher Logan O'Hoppe injured his shoulder and was in excruciating pain. On top of that, the Angels lost their third and final game in the Bronx, 9-3, after making a strong surge toward the end of the game.
Most of the Yankee's damage was done in the first inning, as the Bronx bombers were making it very difficult for Thursday's halo starter, Patrick Sandoval. The southpaw was rattled in the first inning, giving up five runs, and the Halos couldn't climb out of that hole.
After the game, Sandoval spoke to the media and called his outing a rough one yesterday.
“It’s just frustrating me because I know how good my stuff is,” Sandoval said. “I know what I’m capable of in this league. I just need to throw my stuff through the zone. You can’t have six walks or three walks in an inning. It’s just tough.”
Overall, Sandoval went four innings, allowed four hits, six walks, and five strikeouts in 93 pitches. If it's not one thing, it's another with the Halos, and this is a perfect example of that. The Halos had seven hits and were only down by two runs going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
The pitching after Patrick gave up three runs, and the Angels failed to score after that seventh inning. Nonetheless, those five runs killed the Halos, and Sandoval knows that.
“It’s not the way you want to start a game, digging a hole 5-0 to start with,” Sandoval said. “I didn’t do my job today.”
Los Angeles will now look to take the weekend series against the Kansas City Royals with their ace Shohei Ohtani on the mound.
