In this story:

When the Angels decided to move on from manager Phil Nevin a few days ago, it was met with some curious takes from those in the industry. While the season hadn't gone the way that anyone hoped, some believed it made more sense to bring him back for another year.

General Manager Perry Minasian only has one year left on his contract, so it could be difficult to get someone to sign on when the front office leader could be out next season. It also isn't a great look for this team, as they will be looking for their fifth manager since 2018.

The Halos have been an organization of dysfunction for some time now, and it seems to have come up once again. But, the decision to let Nevin go was a collaborative one between Minasian and owner Arte Moreno.

So, the one good part of all this is the fact that the two men seem to be on the same page. That is a step in the right direction, and maybe they can find some long-term success with whoever takes over next.

The Angels should probably enter a full rebuild going forward, but they won't do that. They fully intend to field a competitive team next season, and they want to win. While it may be a mistake, Moreno seems intent on doing so.

Hopefully, this offseason can yield some strong positivity for this franchise, because it has been a long time. The Angels haven't reached the postseason since 2014, and things don't seem to be getting any better.

This winter will be a massive one for the future of the Angels, and it could see them dictate how their future will go. They need to get the managerial hire correct and make the right roster moves, otherwise, they will be stuck in mediocrity for years to come.
