Angels News: Phil Nevin Impressed With Jo Adell’s New Approach at Plate
Sidelined by an oblique injury for the majority of the season, former Halos top prospect Jo Adell has returned to the big league roster for the final few weeks, much to the approval of his manager.
Noting a new stride at the plate for his outfielder, Angels' skipper Phil Nevin has liked what he's seen out of his prospect after what's been a trying year for him.
“It’s not an all or nothing swing anymore,” Nevin said. “I think there’s there’s a thought process to his approach. There’s a plan to it. You can see that. He missed a lot of time and really only played a couple games (in Triple-A). He saw some live pitching before (coming back), but especially for a young player, it’s tough to come back from that. I think he’s just finding his ground and his timing. But one off one of the best relievers in the game. Put a good swing on one in a big spot.”

Adell was taken in the first round of the 2017 draft as one of the most highly touted prospects in his class, but hasn't had a great start to his career.
Looking to channel his previous high school form, Adell's second home run of the season against the Rays on Thursday afternoon only goes to show the work he's put in.
Whether it was injuries or being stuck in between the minors and majors, Adell's play this year has seen flashes of his previous draft pedigree, including a robbery of a home run at Dodger Stadium earlier this season.
Likely a key piece to the Angels' core in the future, Adell's recent hot streak should do more to inspire confidence in the organization and himself that he can succeed in MLB.
