In this story:

It seems that every game, Shohei Ohtani finds a way to add to his growing resume that makes him one of the best players to ever put on a pair of cleats. Obviously, there are some very clear blanks in the playoff section of that resume but 2023 could be the year where that all changes (knock on wood).

Through 76 games with the Halos this season, he has been able to slash .294/.376/.618 with an OPS of .994 and 25 homers. The show has continued in Anaheim this year and if Aaron Judge didn’t put together one of the greatest seasons in history last year, we could be talking about Ohtani chasing a third straight MVP. He’s been on a tear recently and even though LA has dropped their last two series, he has the team competing.

And the fact that Ohtani’s greatness is even up for debate with some MLB legends without playoff success speaks on just how special of a talent he is. Former superstar pitcher and current analyst Curt Schilling cannot get enough of the The Unicorn this year, placing him above the likes of Babe Ruth and Mike Trout all-time.

“Shohei Ohtani is the fastest in Angles history to 150 home runs. I’ve said many times that I think Mike Trout will be the greatest player that anybody alive sees,” said Schilling. “I don’t know that I can make that case anymore. I’ve never seen anything like it, I’ve never seen anything close to it. People want to talk about Babe Ruth but Babe Ruth wasn’t the cleanup hitter and opening day starter for the Yankees.”

It is just a pleasure to watch Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani share the same baseball field.
