Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Completely Falling Out of Trade Market
The trade deadline always gives fans of the MLB a couple of big treats every single year. There are times in recent seasons where we have been able to witness deals go down that cause a seismic shift of power in the league and pretty much everybody was expecting that to be the case with Shohei Ohtani in a couple of months.
However, even though the Halos have suffered some disappointing losses and continue to try and find their set roster for the year, they haven't fallen off just yet. It feels like right when we think they're going to embark on a losing streak, they flip the switch and get the ball rolling once again.
This is in large part because they were able to use their cap space wisely during the offseason and surround Ohtani and Mike Trout with some actual depth. Both stars have been able to take numerous rest days thanks to this and can continue to perform at a high level without the risk of injury.
Lose Arte Moreno's number since now
Team owner Arte Moreno made one thing clear before the 2023 season kicked off and that was that if the Angels still had a shot to make the playoffs at the trade deadline, he would not take any phone calls about The Unicorn. Moreno has said a lot of things and backtracked before but this could be his own last season at the helm of the franchise and he likely doesn't want to part ways with his superstar like this.
And as the days go on, more and more reports are surfacing that any trade talks surrounding Ohtani have now been stored away. The Angels do not want to help any franchise by sending him to them and remain focused on their own goals.
Due to this, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller categorized the 28-year-old icon as someone they believe will not be dealt.
"The ultimate name that has come up as a trade candidate on a daily basis for a full calendar year. So long as the Angels have a snowball's chance in hell of making the playoffs, though, it's not going to happen."

Anything can still happen until the deadline and maybe a rival clubhouse will offer the Halos a deal they won't be able to turn down.
