Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani's dominance on the field has been well-documented over the past three full seasons, but fans will now get a glimpse of just how he got here.

A new documentary around the Japanese icon's life is set to release on Disney's streaming services soon and will detail Ohtani's journey to reach his unprecedented heights.

Many doubted Ohtani's ability to become baseball's first dominant two-way player since Babe Ruth when the Halos signed him in 2018.

Scouts and analysts all had their opinions that Ohtani wouldn't be able to do both at an elite level especially after multiple injuries sidelined him in his first three years in MLB.

Ohtani's manager at the time, Joe Maddon, took off the training wheels on his superstar starting in 2021 and the baseball world quickly realized that the two-way icon was a unicorn the likes of which we've never seen.

In his three most recent seasons, this spring's WBC MVP compiled a WAR level above 9 in each year, one AL MVP crown with another on the way for 2023 and the AL home run crown this season, too.

What's even more impressive is that Ohtani got injured this season due to his massive workload and still finished with a 10 WAR season without 20 extra games played.

A marvel in every sense of the word, had it not been for Aaron Judge's monster 2022 campaign, Ohtani would've been baseball's first three-peat MVP since Barry Bonds in the early 2000s.

Unlike Bonds, Ohtani isn't taking steroids to achieve these numbers and his journey to MLB will now be on full display for the world to see shortly.

Many questions still surround Ohtani after his injury-riddled, albeit dominant 2023 specifically with his contract.

However, expectations around MLB circles are that the unicorn will still receive heavy interest and one of the richest contracts baseball has ever seen this winter.
