After his short start on Monday against the Boston Red Sox, Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani was able to go as far as he could in Friday's win against the Kansas City Royals.

And once again, Shohei was a machine on the mound. The 28-year-old looked as sharp as ever and made history in his fifth start.

Shohei Ohtani's 0.64 ERA is an #Angels franchise record through the first five pitching starts of a season. Kirk McCaskill (0.74 ERA in 1989) held the previous mark Also, since the start of 2022, Ohtani now leads the Majors with 12 games with 10+ strikeouts.

Ohtani is on a tear on the hill; his 0.64 ERA leads the majors by 0.9 points. Through five starts and 28 innings, he's only allowed 8 hits and two earned runs in 429 pitches thrown. Shohei also has 38 strikeouts and is holding batter's average to .092.

McCaskill had his best season in 1989; he started those five games with a 0.74 ERA and still finished with an impressive and career-high 2.93 ERA. Kirk started in 32 games, pitched 212 innings, and got 15 wins that season.

There has been no sign of Shohei slowing down his dominance on the mound. It's also a guaranteed win when Ohtani graces the mound, and hopefully, it stays that way.
