In this story:

Shohei Ohtani doesn't always say the most words nor does he shed a ton of light into his personal life. For being what many consider the best baseball player in the world, he is a very simple guy and mainly focuses on the craft that he does best and is going to get him paid over $500 million.

However, one thing he has always been ecstatic to talk about is anime. Anime has grown in popularity throughout the years and don't be surprised if your favorite superstar athlete winds down after a long day and decides to watch some.

In Ohtani's case, he has been amazed by the content from a young age and multiple characters and adaptations actually inspired him to be the player that he is today. His home country of Japan allows children of all ages to be introduced to different forms of anime and Ohtani fell in love with the character 'Goro Shigeno.'

The 28-year-old superstar also loves the famous series 'One Piece' and hosted his own barbecue at the creator's house. During the 2021 season, he also used the 'Jujutsu Kaisen' anime theme as his walk-up song.

But it looks like Ohtani has continued to explore the vast library of choices and he has some new favorites on his list.

"Shohei Ohtani (LA Angels' outfielder) & Carlos Estevez (LA Angels' Pitcher) mention Black Clover and World trigger as their fav. anime series. "He [Estevez] got me into Black Clover and World Trigger, and now I've started reading Slam Dunk too!" - Ohtani in MLB News interview"

It's great to get to know the star pitcher on a more personal level and I can only imagine how younger children feel knowing that they watch the same anime's as their idol.
