Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Officially Earns 2023 All-Star Bid
Coming off a second-place finish in the AL MVP voting and another incredible, historical season, there was no question that Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani would again be an All-Star.
Today, it became official. The MLB announced that Ohtani will be heading to Seattle for the 93rd annual MLB All-Star game this July.
To no one's surprise, Ohtani is an All-Star yet again, and the voting wasn't even close. The 28-year-old led all voters in the DH spot of the AL with 1,855,144, which was 1.3 million more than second-place vote-getter Toronto Blue Jays, Brandon Belt.
This will be Ohtani's third All-Star appearance, and it is well deserved. He has been dominant in the batter's box and on the mound. He is slashing .292/.377/.616 with a .993 OPS, a league-leading 24 home runs, and 58 RBIs for the Angels. He has a 3.13 ERA on the mound, with a 6-3 record, 117 strikeouts, and a 1.04 WHIP in 89 innings and 15 starts.
There is nothing Ohtani can't do, and we can't wait to witness him on the biggest stage again.
