Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Officially Named to AL All-Star Team As Pitcher as Well
In what was probably the easiest decision for everyone involved with the All-Star selection prospect, Shohei Ohtani was named to the American League team as both a hitter and pitcher for the third year in a row. Ohtani has put on a show this season and it earns him a trip up to Seattle next week.
Ohtani is the biggest show in baseball right now and he will represent the Angels at the All-Star game yet again. It's pretty incredible that he has mastered being both an explosive hitter while also being a highly effective pitcher as well. It's something that we haven't seen since the days of Babe Ruth and is a major reason as to why he will be the first $500 million-plus man in baseball.
On the year, Ohtani is hitting .306 with 31 home runs and 67 runs batted in. He leads the majors in home runs and continuously is adding to his total. Ohtani hit 34 home runs last season and is on pace for over 60 homers this year.
On the pitching side of things, he is 7-3 with a 3.02 ERA and he has also struck out 127 batters over 95.1 innings pitched. He is dominant on the mound and strikes fear into the opponents anytime he is on the bump.
What he is doing is indescribable. Each time out, something new happens and leaves us all in amazement. Ohtani is the best player in the game and if he continues this pace, he could go down as one of the greatest to ever live.
