Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Productivity Since 2021 MVP Season is Nearly Unmatched
The 2023 season for the Los Angeles Angels has already brought us a number of surprises. Mickey Moniak has found a new home in Anaheim after being the Phillies number one overall pick in 2016, Carlos Estevez has had an electric start to the year, and the depth is looking very nice for LA.
However, what has not been a surprise has been the continued stardom of Shohei Ohtani. I believe that he sent everybody a clear message in the WBC with his championship that he and Team Japan won. Ohtani is hungry to make the postseason for the first time in his MLB career and he'll put the team on his back if he has to.
We've already received word that the 28-year-old's pitching load will increase as the months go on and we also just saw him slam two home runs against the Chicago White in a Wednesday 12-5 victory.
But Ohtani is dominating and has been dominating the league at an unreal level ever since 2021, the same year that saw him take home his first career AL MVP award.
There are very few players who have been able to match what he does on the pitching mound and at the plate since then.
"Shohei Ohtani has hit more home runs since 2021 than any other American League player except Aaron Judge. Shohei Ohtani has struck out more batters since 2021 than any other AL pitcher except Gerrit Cole and Dylan Cease. It's insane."

Time and time again, we see why he is so special. Aaron Judge is one of the deadliest sluggers in the MLB and has been on a heater this month but Ohtani is right there with them while being a starting pitcher LA as a whole.
I'll say what I always say whenever an amazing Ohtani stat like this one pops up.. appreciate greatness while we have it folks.
