Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Sets a Potentially Unbreakable Record
Woohoo, Shohei Ohtani has become the first to accomplish something never seen before in the MLB once again!
However, it's not exactly something to be proud of. As one of the best pitchers and hitters in all of baseball, few have become accustomed quickly to the pitch clock than Ohtani.
We have seen so many players grow frustrated with it but he has learned tactics to make it easier on himself. But nobody is perfect not even our esteemed superstar.
The 28-year-old became the first player to ever receive two pitch clock violations in the same game against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, but one came on the pitching mound and the other came when he stepped up to bat.
See for yourself in this clip.
Basically, he made a common mistake that many of his MLB players have been falling ill to recently as well.Â
In the first inning, the umpire got to him right away and issued an automatic walk as Ohtani went over the time limit to throw his pitch. Fast forward to the sixth inning, he stepped up to try and add another home run to his growing collection this season but went over 8 seconds to step into the box. Boom, his second one of the day.
Luckily, Ohtani did not react nearly the same way that Padres superstar Manny Machado did on Tuesday.
The majority of the MLB does not have a two-way phenom like Ohtani and they instead have a designated hitter that does that batting for their starting pitchers. However, Ohtani has embraced dominating both ends and that's what makes him so special.
It also makes this record pretty hard to break. It could happen if a position players opts to pitch for a game and undergoes similar circumstances but I'm pretty confident nobody wants to go out of their way to do this.
