Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Shines, Halos Back to .500
The Los Angeles Angels had their superstar two-way player Shohei Ohtani on the hill, and as expected, he dominated another one of his starts. Ohtani was un-hittable and propelled the Halos to 2-0 victory against the Kansas City Royals.
Ohtani was phenomenal, going seven innings strong, allowing only two hits, zero earned runs, two walks, and 11 K's in 102 pitches while batting in the two spot. What can't this guy do?
The 28-year-old spoke to LA Times Angels insider Sarah Valenzuela and said his curveball is as lethal as they come.
“I mean, curveball is definitely one of my strong weapons,” Ohtani said through an interpreter. “It’s in my arsenal. I felt like I needed to use it today.”
Even though Ohtani did his thing on the mound, it was the other guys doing their job in the batter's box. Well, just one guy and that was Chad Wallach, who just got called up on Friday amid the Logan O'Hoppe news.
Wallach smashed a ball to deep left-center field to give the Halos their only two runs of the game.
The Halos offense did just enough thanks to the greatness of Ohtani and the relief pitchers, Carlos Estevez and Jose Quijada, for picking up his fourth win of the season.
LA will look to go one game above .500 tonight in their second of three against the Royals, with southpaw Tyler Anderson on the hill for the Halos.
