In this story:

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward was placed on the 10-day injured list with facial fractures, the team announced on Sunday.

The move comes one day after Ward was hit in the face by a pitch in the 5th inning of the Angels' 6-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Ward was taken to the hospital for observation.

Hopefully, Ward is able to recover well and soon, but his health is the most prudent priority given Saturday's developments.

Ward was on pace for a career year for the Angels, slashing ..253/.335/.421 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI through 97 games.

Again, hopefully Ward's recovery from the injuries goes well and he's able to get back to contributing when healthy.

But first and foremost, we wish him all the best as he begins that recovery process.
