Taylor Ward has been a member of the Los Angeles Angels since 2018 and he has been able to stick with franchise through numerous roster and front office changes. Even with a slew of offseason moves and a lot of pressure on the clubhouse this year, Ward still entered looking to be one of the more productive batters for them.

However, that just has not been the case to kick off his 2023 campaign. Through 26 games, he is slashing .224/.336/.337 and has been unable to see the same sort of success when stepping up to the plate that he did at the end of 2022.

For someone like Ward who has always done whatever is needed to help out the squad, this is pretty tough to see. Despite some huge outfield plays, he has visibly been frustrated these past couple of games and has even voiced how he's feeling.

“I was honestly hoping I would never have to worry about this stuff, but it is what it is,” said Ward. “Just stay positive and keep trusting yourself. My swing is so simple that I really shouldn’t be having these problems."

"I think there’s been a snowball effect,” Ward said. “I’m pulling off balls. I think that’s contributing to my overthinking. I have to get back to what was right. I just need to stay through balls and get it going over the middle.”

Slumps happen to players all throughout the MLB, no matter how talented and seasoned are. We are rooting for and believe that Ward will be back to normal soon.
