Angels News: Why Tyler Anderson Chose Halos Over Other Similar Offers
Tyler Anderson had a few offers on the table when he chose to sign with the Angels early in free agency. Of course, there was the $19.65 million qualifying offer to remain with the Dodgers. The nearly $20 million contract would have been quite the pay day for Anderson, who had made around $17.5 million in career earnings up to this point.
However, he was looking for a little more security in terms of contract length.
Anderson said he had multiple offers on the table that included three years, but those deals would have required him to wait beyond the qualifying offer deadline to sign. Anderson was able to sign with the Angels right ahead of the qualifying offer deadline.
But that wasn't the only reason Anderson decided to sign with the Angels. He liked the way the team looked, especially with guys like Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon.
Anderson said he thinks the Angels will be "really good" next season, and knows they have "a lot of good players on this team."
Anderson will join a rotation with Ohtani, Patrick Sandoval, Reid Detmers and Jose Suarez to give the Angels one of the most underrated starting fives in all of baseball.
With Ohtani, Trout, Rendon, Taylor Ward, Luis Rengifo and Jared Walsh in the lineup, there's a lot to be excited about in LA.
The Angels also aren't done making moves. So this could be the beginning of a very successful offseason.
