Angels Notes: Lucas Giolito Heads to the Halos, Shohei Ohtani Has Historic Day and More
It's crazy how an entire franchise can change in two days.
After there was endless debate discussion on whether the Angels would deal Shohei Ohtani at the trade deadline or hang onto him and try to make a playoff run, the Angels made the biggest statement possible that they'd be going for October. They kept Ohtani around and added both Chicago White Sox ace Lucas Giolito and reliever Reynaldo Lopez on Wednesday in arguably the most consequential trade the franchise has made in a generation.
Then Thursday came and Ohtani had the best day of his MLB career in their afternoon doubleheader, pitching a 1-hit complete game shutout in game one and followed that up by hitting two home runs in game two as the Angels got a doubleheader sweep over the Detroit Tigers. But the Angels may not be done just yet, as they're going after one of the best hitters on the trade market. You can read on to find out who it is and so much more below!
