Things haven't gone the way that the Los Angeles Angels have hoped this season. At one point, they looked like they may be able to break their long postseason drought, but once again, it seems that they will be on the outside looking in.

It has been a rough year for the Halos, and things seem to be getting worse as time has gone on. They thought they could make a run at the playoffs and were aggressive at the trade deadline.

But the decision to add to the roster has come back to bite them. They find themselves even further down in the standings and are currently on pace for the worst run differential for a month in the history of the franchise.

If the team does keep up this pace and suffers the worst run differential over a month span in history, it will be a culmination of their season.

August hasn't been kind to the Angels. Not only have they not seen success on the field, they also have dealt with multiple injuries.

Star outfielder Mike Trout returned for one game from a fractured hamate injury, only be to sent right back to the injured list. And two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani suffered a torn UCL.

It's been a nightmare few weeks for this franchise, and with the impending free agency of Ohtani, things don't seem like it will get any easier.

Ohtani could leave the franchise at the end of the season, although his new injury could throw in some wrinkles to that thought. But either way, the Angels are a mess right now.

It is expected that things will get worse before they get better for this franchise. They just need to stay the course and hope for brighter days moving forward this season.
