After avoiding the initial flurry of questionable moves made by the Angels organization, one player who was presumed to stick with the roster for the rest of the year may not actually get a chance to do so once more.

Just a week after being placed on the waiver wire in an effort to save some luxury tax money, Halos outfielder Randal Grichuk is back on the chopping block for any team to claim him.

Acquired at the deadline by Anaheim, Grichuk started his season with the Colorado Rockies alongside veteran leader Mike Moustakas and power bat CJ Cron.

Using prospects to acquire his services from the Mile High City, Grichuk's return to Anaheim after being drafted in the same draft class as Mike Trout was a heartwarming one after he homered in his first series in red against the Braves on the road.

In the weeks since, it's been a struggle for the veteran as his tenure with the Halos has seen him bat just .179 with an OPS mark of only .589, far below league average.

Grichuk was the only Angel who wasn't claimed off waivers in a call likely made by owner Arte Moreno in order to save some money.

Joining Grichuk on the waiver wire the first time were pitchers Lucas Giolito, Dominic Leone, Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Moore, all of which were claimed.

In the hitting ranks, Hunter Renfroe joined the Reds off of waivers leaving Grichuk as the only remaining holdover from the trade deadline that didn't pan out for the Angels.

It's just the way things have gone for the Halos in 2023 as their aggressive moves to trade for veterans led to an equally aggressive regression in both the AL West standings and financial direction at the top of the organization.
