Angels Prioritizing Pitching This Offseason, Says GM Perry Minasian
One of the biggest needs for the Los Angeles Angels this offseason is pitching help. Like many other teams across the league, the Angels are on the hunt for multiple arms in their rotation.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian gave his thoughts on the offseason approach, saying that the team is prioritizing pitching help this winter.
“It's definitely a priority, whether it's the rotation or the bullpen,” Minasian said. “I think we can use help in both areas. Lineup-wise, we have a lot of flexibility with the players we have. When you have a Luis Rengifo and a Brandon Drury who can move around and play multiple positions, that gives you versatility, which is really important. So we’re going to look for specific players who fit us and what we’re all about.”

The team has been linked with multiple starting pitchers this offseason, including some of the top starters on the trade market. The Halos understand that without quality arms in the rotation, they will have no chance to compete this coming season.
They have multiple guys in the rotation right now, but an upgrade is needed. Patrick Sandoval and Reid Detmers will hopefully bounce back next season, giving them two solid arms to rely on.
But the same can't be said for left-hander Tyler Anderson, who really struggled in his first season with the team. They may look to move Anderson, but if he remains, the hope is that he can rekindle some of his 2022 magic from his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Halos want to be competitive in 2024, and their biggest goal is breaking their long playoff drought. Adding multiple pieces to the puzzle should help that, but the front office will need to be creative in how they go about different moves this winter.
