Angels Promise Shohei Ohtani Update After Superstar Clears Out Locker
The relationship between the Angels and Shohei Ohtani might be more strained than anyone realized. Following another tough 11-2 loss to the lowly Detroit Tigers on Friday, Ohtani's locker at Angel Stadium was cleaned out and answers as to why were unavailable, despite reporters waiting around for more than half an hour for an update.
The Angels say an update on the situation is coming on Saturday
Ohtani has been sidelined with an oblique injury he suffered no Monday, September 4th. While the star hasn't been placed on the injured list, he's remained unavailable for Halos manager Phil Nevin.
Before the oblique injury, Ohtani's season as a pitcher was derailed by an elbow injury that has the two-way start heading for surgery.
That surgery may be what ultimately is labeled as the cause for Shohei's unexpected Anaheim exit. More is to come this afternoon but, for fans hoping to see Ohtani in an Angels uniform one last time before his upcoming free agency, that image may have already passed.
