The Angels made a roster move on Wednesday, officially calling up outfield Jo Adell from Triple-A Salt Lake, according to the club.

In a corresponding move, outfielder Hunter Renfroe was placed on the paternity list, opening up the door for Adell to get another shot at the majors.

The former Angels No. 1 prospect, Adell hasn't been able to translate the hitting prowess that made him the top player in the Halos' minor league system up to the majors.

During his MLB career, he's put up a pedestrian slash line of .215/.256/.356 with 15 home runs and 60 RBI, a vast difference from his career Triple-A numbers of .273/.343/.555 with 54 homers and 153 RBI.

One big caveat with his major league career, however, is he hasn't gotten much consistent playing time in the big leagues, appearing in a total of 161 games over the course of three seasons.

So even though Adell's been in the system for a while, it's still far too early to draw any firm conclusions on his ability to perform in MLB.

If he receives that consistent playing time over a full season, he might be able to translate his hitting prowess up to the bigs, and he still remains a name to keep an eye on.

As for Renfroe, its been an up and down season for him in his first season with the Halos, as he's put up numbers of .252/.302/.451 along with 11 HRs and 30 RBI, although his recent poor stretch -- especially with runners in scoring position -- has drawn the ire of Angel fans.

Time will tell if Renfroe can flip the switch on his season, but for now Jo Adell will make the trip from Salt Lake City to Angel Stadium and try to make a positive impression on the big league club.
