The Angels are still looking to add to their bullpen ahead of the upcoming 2023 season. They don't necessarily need to add a full-time closer, but they may decide to get someone with closing experience — and if they do, former two-time All-Star Zack Britton could make a lot of sense.

The Angels have been linked to Britton over the last few weeks, and this weekend, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that they're still very interested in bringing him to Anaheim.

"The Angels continue to have strong interest in Britton if his price tag drops."

What's the price tag they're hoping to drop? Nightengale explained:

"Left-handed relievers Andrew Chafin, Zack Britton and Matt Moore also remain on the market. They are each seeking about $9 million in their talks with teams."

The $9 million definitely feels a little high for Britton, who hasn't pitched a full season since 2019. Over the last three seasons, Britton has appeared in just 45 games. However, at his best, Britton was as dominant as anyone in baseball.

Britton made back-to-back All-Star teams in 2015 and 2016, and had 120 saves across 2014, 2015 and 2016. While he's not exactly that pitcher anymore, he could still add a ton of experience in the Angels' bullpen, and potentially close games if needed. If the deal he's looking for lowers by about half the price, the Angels could end up adding Britton before Opening Day.
