The Los Angeles Angels find themselves on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Phil Nevin at the end of the season. It's a quest they're approaching with thoroughness and careful consideration, ensuring they make the right choice for the team's future.

The Angels' front office is casting a wide net, exploring various candidates, including those currently associated with other teams. One intriguing possibility, as suggested by LA Times columnist Bill Shakin, is the Miami Marlins' manager, Skip Schumaker.

Shakin listed how Skip could be a real possibility for the Halos.

The Miami Marlins’ Skip Schumaker, for example, would be an outstanding hire as manager. He is unhappy the Marlins parted ways with general manager Kim Ng, and the Angels ought to find out whether the Marlins would let Schumaker, who lives in Orange County, out of his contract. But would he really come to the Angels if his boss could be ousted in consecutive years?

Schumaker has made quite a name for himself in his first ever year as a manager, and it's no surprise that he's in the running for National League Manager of the Year.

Under his guidance, the Marlins outperformed expectations with an impressive 84-78 record and clinched a wild card spot. While the Marlins did face a playoff loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Wild Card series, their overall season was nothing short of remarkable.

It appears that Schumaker may be exploring other options. There's reportedly some discontent between him and the Marlins' front office. If this is deemed to be true, the Angels could reach out to the SoCal native.

Furthermore, the native Californian, hailing from Torrance, has strong ties to the Golden State. He already calls Orange County home and could make a return to be manager of the Halos.

All these factors make Schumaker a potentially perfect fit for the Angels, should they decide to go in that direction. It remains to be seen whether the Angels' owner, Arte Moreno, will aggressively pursue this promising young manager and breathe new life into the Angels' clubhouse.

The search is on, and fans eagerly await the outcome as they look forward to a fresh start with a new leader at the helm.
