Angels Rumors: MLB Hall of Famer Predicts Shohei Ohtani Signs With American League Contender
As the Angeles get into their offseason, everything revolves around one thing this winter: Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Until his fate is decided, the Angels will have a hard time doing anything else with their roster.
He is expected to leave the Halos this offseason, but there is some small amount of hope within the team that he will stay. Ohtani has made his intentions to win very clear, and the Angels haven’t been able to field a winning team during his time there.
He will have no shortage of suitors this offseason, and teams will be bidding to get his services. It will be unlike any free agency that the sport of baseball has seen, and it will do wonders for intrigue around the game.
Former MLB pitcher and Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez chimed in on his prediction on where Ohtani will sign, and he has him going to one of his former teams.
“I think he’s gonna be playing in Boston.”
Per Pedro Martinez
Martinez also acknowledged that teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and San Diego Padres are options as well. But he wants to see Ohtani land with the Boston Red Sox.
Ohtani has been linked with Boston previously, but it remains to be seen if he will head East. He has previously preferred the West Coast, but some think he will change that thinking this offseason to play for a contender.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Ohtani, but everything starts and ends with him for the Halos. They would love to keep him long-term, but the reality is that the ship may have sailed.
He gave the team his prime years, and they didn't do anything to help him reach his goal of winning a World Series. He is better off heading to a team that gives him a better chance to win each year before it's too late for his career.
