Angels Rumors: MLB Insider Has No Idea if Perry Minasian Will Return Next Season
The Halos are going to have a busy offseason once the season wraps up.
Shohei Ohtani is going to be a free agent and will sign a record-breaking deal with whatever team he wants.
The Angels will try their best to be the fortunate team.
However, Angels general manager, Perry Minasian, may not be there during that signing. Here's what ESPN's Jeff Passan had to say on the podcast Boo Birds for the Blue Birds last week.
"Perry Minasian ... I feel like could come back, could not," Passan said. "You just never know how Arte Moreno’s gonna feel when he wakes up in the morning. And that’s pretty much what the job security of the Los Angeles Angels GM depends upon."
The Angels have a history of surprising moves especially when it comes to saving money or saving face.
The Angels just last month shocked the baseball world when they waived all of their trade deadline additions after losing almost all of August.
The Angels also surprisingly fired manager Joe Maddon last year after a 12-game losing streak in June. The move came as somewhat of a surprise to Maddon and fans alike since Maddon is a very well-respected and decorated manager helping the Chicago Cubs win their first World Series in 2016.
Baseball front office jobs are already on the hot seat with the Boston Red Sox firing Chaim Bloom a week ago.
Bloom was responsible for making many poor moves and decisions including the trade that sent Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a very mediocre package at best.
Minasian's time since 2020 has been marred with mediocrity and disappointment.
Constant failure to put together rosters, his big signing his first year was Anthony Rendon who has now turned into one of the worst contracts in the MLB.
Minasian may not be fired and he may also not be the only person to blame for the Halos' constant failure, but if anyone were packing up their things this offseason, it would likely be him.
