As the season continues, the buzz surrounding the San Francisco Giants has kept going. They have kept themselves in contention and now could be players at the trade deadline.

The biggest fish that could be caught is Shohei Ohtani, but it remains to be seen if the Angels will actually trade him. But if they do put him on the market, San Francisco could be one of the teams calling to make a deal.

This team has good, young talent, and they are a scrappy bunch. The only thing missing is a true star player, and that is where Ohtani could come in. It isn’t for the lack of trying, as the Giants have looked to get stars in years past.

“After the Giants missed out on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa this past offseason, the general consensus was that they had a solid roster at their disposal, but they needed a superstar. “

Per MLB.com

MLB.com put together trade packages to land Ohtani, with the Giants having one for them.

Giants get:

Shohei Ohtani,

Angels get:

SS Marco Luciano (Giants No. 2 prospect, No. 15 overall), LHP Carson Whisenhunt (Giants No. 4 prospect, No. 93 overall), OF Heliot Ramos (Giants No. 18 prospect), C Joey Bart, DH Joc Pederson"

Per MLB.com

On the surface, this looks promising, but it may not be enough. It’s going to take a king’s ransom for the Angels to move their two-way superstar, and the Giants may not be willing to part with everything for a potential rental in Ohtani.

“It's hard to imagine San Francisco giving up three of its Top 30 prospects -- and a handful of proven contributors at the big league level --for two months of Ohtani. But any team that acquires Ohtani at the Deadline may also get a head start on locking him in on a long-term contract in the offseason”

Per MLB.com

The Angels had an interest in Pederson previously, so they could like the idea of getting him back in the deal with all the prospects. Plus getting Bart could give them a solid catching option going forward as well. All in all, this is a decent package for the Angels that is headlined by multiple top-30 prospects.

We should know more about the Angels plan soon, but they have started to play better of late. So all these rumors could just be for nothing.
