As the Los Angeles Angels continue their season, they have only thing on their mind. That is the impending free agency of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this winter.

It’s been widely assumed that Ohtani will leave the organization this offseason, in no small part due to their ineffectiveness during his time there. He wants to win and hasn’t been shy about that fact.

Ohtani will be the biggest catch of the offseason, with numerous suitors vying for his services. Nobody really knows his plans, but one writer believes he will be playing somewhere else next season.

Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report broke down why Ohtani will be moving on from the Angels this offseason.

“But if Ohtani stands firm on his oft-repeated desire to win, the Angels will be at a clear disadvantage. Indeed, it's hard to convince a guy that you're a winner when you've done nothing but lose in his presence.”

Per Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report

The Angels haven’t reached the postseason since 2014 and once again will be looking outside the playoff picture. It’s not the year that they hoped for, but it’s the reality that they find themselves in currently.

2023 has been incredibly frustrating for the Halos, and they haven’t done a good job of convincing Ohtani to stay. But there is still always a chance that he chooses to stay with the only team he has known in the big leagues.

His recently suffered UCL tear could change some things, but most teams that were interested in him prior to the injury, likely still will be. He may want to rehab with a team he is familiar with, giving the Angels some advantage here.

“Because of that, there's no telling when he'll pitch again. To say his looming free agency is more complicated as a result is the understatement of the century.”

Per Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report

The free agency of Ohtani will be one of the most watched in baseball history. It could rival that of LeBron James in the NBA when he took his talents to South Beach.

This is going to be a fascinating offseason for the Angels and one that they won’t ever forget either way. All the team can hope for is that Ohtani believes them that they want to win each year.
