Shohei Ohtani's 23rd home run on the season was also the 150th of his career. He is only the second Japanese born player to ever hit 150 home runs in the MLB (Hideki Matsui hit 175).

A mammoth 437 foot blast over the center field wall in Kansas City gave him sole possession of the league home run lead, and it also put the Halos up 8-2 in the top of the seventh inning.

Ohtani continues his hot start to June, as he's now working on a 14 game hitting streak, and is hitting .300 on the season, along with driving in 56.

Shohei is set to make the AL All-Star team, and as of June 13, he leads the AL in votes with 942,182.

And when you put his numbers up against his own team, it shows why nearly a million votes have come in for the dynamic two-way player.

As a hitter, he leads the team in:

  • AVG (.300)
  • HR (23)
  • RBI (56)
  • SB (10)
  • R (48)
  • OBP (.383)
  • SLG (.626)
  • OPS (1.009)
  • H (82)

You also can't forget about Shohei the pitcher. He leads the pitching staff in:

  • ERA (3.29)
  • W (6)
  • SO (105)
  • WHIP (1.05)
  • BAA (.178)
  • IP (82.0)

The season that Shohei has put up so far is nothing short of dominant, and with his pending free agency after the season, he's making even more of a case for himself to become the hottest ticket this offseason.

Despite the meteoric collapse on Saturday, the Angels have won 7 of their last 10, and after a day game on Sunday, they'll head into a mid-week matchup with their neighbors up the 5 freeway, the Dodgers.
