With the Los Angeles Angels' quest to add starting pitching help this offseason, the team did their due diligence on multiple top-tier names. One of those names was former All-Star right-hander Alek Manoah of the Toronto Blue Jays.

They checked in with Toronto about Manoah, but no deal ever came close to happening.

And according to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, Monoah is being taken off the trade block.

Manoah would have made a lot of sense for the Halos this season, giving them a solid starter at the top of the rotation. He is primed for a bounce-back year this season after struggling with the Blue Jays in 2023.

He posted an ERA of 5.87 over 19 starts and even spent time in the minor leagues, as well. However, the Blue Jays are hoping for him to regain his form from his 2022 season.

Manoah made his only All-Star game appearance in 2022, posting an ERA of 2.24 over 31 starts. He finished third in the American League Cy Young race that season.

The talent is there for Manoah, which is why the Halos checked in. He is also under contract through the 2027 season, making him a valuable asset if he can regain his form.

If he struggles again this season, maybe Toronto will look back into possibly moving him. The Angels could try to strike at that time and get him onto their roster.

But for now, the Halos will need to look elsewhere to address their pitching staff issues. The front office has been active in searching for help as they are determined to field a competitive roster.
