Angels Waiver Cast Off Comes Up Big for New Team in Wild Card Hunt
The Angels shocked the baseball world when they placed several players on waivers to end the month of August. One of those players was outfielder Hunter Renfroe who immediately made an impact for his new club.
Now with the Cincinnati Reds, Renfroe used his legs to beat out a potential inning-ending double play to walk it off in Cincy.
It wasn't pretty, but it still led to a big win for the Reds who are keeping their Wild Card hopes alive in the National League. After a loss on Sunday, the club is just a half game behind the Arizona Diamondback and San Francisco Giants for the third and final Wild Card spot.
Despite the nice moment, Renfroe has mostly struggled for Cincinnati, going 0-9 in his first 3 games. He hit .242 with 19 home runs in 126 games with the Angels this year.
