In this story:

Shohei Ohtani has hit a combined 80 home runs over the last two seasons. The way he's swinging the bat this offseason, he may hit 80 next year, alone.

Okay, that may be a stretch, but Ohtani looks as ready as ever to have another dominant season, especially at the plate.

The Angels' reddit got a video of Ohtani taking batting practice this offseason, and let's just say, he looks like he's going to mimic his 2021 offensive numbers this season, when he put up 46 home runs and 100 RBIs. You can watch the video of him crushing dingers in offseason batting practice here.

Ohtani's swing looks pure, as he gets set to defend his crown as one of the best players in all of baseball.

Ohtani was named the 19th unanimous MVP in MLB history in 2021, and finished as the runner-up to Aaron Judge last season.

This season, he's already considered the favorite to win the American League MVP Award, and will hope to play well enough to keep the distraction of his impending free agency out of the conversation. He would much rather everyone be talking about his play on the field next season.
