Blake Snell Rumors: NL West Team Now Seen as 'Favorites' For Angels Free Agent Target
The latest installment of the Blake Snell saga involves a team situated on the West Coast.
To the dismay of fans who support the Los Angeles Angels, the team in question is located a few hours north in the Bay Area.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale penned a column touching on a plethora of different topics. One of which centered around the free-agent status of the two-time Cy Young winner.
Nightengale reported that the Houston Astros now look to be out of the mix after Snell asked for $60 million in guaranteed money over two years.
"The San Francisco Giants are now looming as the favorites for Snell, who have been engaged, but were also waiting for the price-tag to drop."
Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today
A Snell-San Francisco pairing does make logical sense. Snell would be close to his home in Seattle, and going to arguably the most notorious pitcher-friendly park in the Big Leagues is certainly a strong selling point.
The Giants have also shown a willingness to spend money this offseason. After inking Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a six-year deal, the front office dipped into the market by acquiring two proven hitters Matt Chapman and Jorge Soler.
Pairing Snell with Logan Webb would give San Francisco a one-two punch that would rival pretty much anyone in the National League.
While all of this news must sound thrilling for those in the Bay, those down south in Orange County have to be frustrated by this point. While Snell remains unsigned and in theory could be an option for the Angels, there's little to think L.A. will reverse its current stance and give the contract to Snell he's seeking.
