Expert Believes Angels Should Trade Jo Adell to AL Rival
The Los Angeles Angels haven't been in a lot of trade rumors this season that do not involve Shohei Ohtani. Everybody is keeping a close eye on the Halos this season to see if they start trending towards not making the playoffs so they can assemble the perfect trade package and make a move for the 28-year-old superstar.
However, LA's franchise has made it clear that they are going to go all in on trying to make the postseason and will not accept phone calls on Ohtani if that is the case. But if they are hell-bent on keeping him, the current roster may not be enough.
Don't get me wrong, the early returns on the Angels' offseason acquisitions have been pretty solid. The likes of Gio Urshela and Brandon Drury have been pretty solid along with Logan O'Hoppe stepping up big-time as a rookie. But will Ohtani be satisfied with just sneaking into the playoffs and getting bounced in an early round? Perhaps the Halos should look to part ways with a young prospect and bring in more veteran talent.
Jo Adell has been seriously impressing in the minor leagues as he has so many times before. The issue with the 24-year-old is that he always seems to shine in AAA but then watches production drop whenever he gets called up. The Athletic's Jim Bowden believes that a change of scenery could be beneficial for both sides.
"He is hitting .322/.452/.814 at Triple A with eight home runs and 17 RBIs in 73 plate appearances. The
Angels
need to win now. If I’m Boston, I would first offer Duran and try to convince them this was a trade of failed prospects and a change of scenery might help both players. I would then pivot to see if they had interest in any of my older veteran types who could help them win now."

Adell is still very promising and with him still being so young, he still has a good chance of being a big part of the Angels in the near future. But tough decisions have to be mulled over when a franchise is trying to win.
