Mike Trout Says There Are 'A Few' Current Free Agents Who Want to Play for Angels
It's no secret that Mike Trout needs some help.
With Shohei Ohtani leaving in the offseason, the Los Angeles Angels are in a bit of a weird in-between spot. Even though Trout is still on the roster, the team hasn't done anything to indicate that they're willing to be a contender based on the lack of activity during the offseason.
A host of high-level free agents, namely Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, Jordan Montgomery, and Matt Chapman, are still sitting out on the market unsigned.
Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY was able to nab a quote from Trout. He spoke about the offseason and offered this intriguing nugget:
"There are a few guys that I’ve talked that want to be here for sure. I’m competitive. The guys out there are great players and great people. It would be foolish to say I don’t want them to come here. This offseason, I was in contact with both of them, just pushing, pushing, pushing. There’s still some guys out there that can make this team a lot better."

The next question persists: Who are these players?
Interestingly enough, Chapman, Bellinger, and Snell all have links to the area.
Chapman grew up in the Orange County suburb of Lake Forest -- a stone's throw from the stadium in Anaheim. Bellinger had a lengthy start to his career with the Dodgers and also grew up on the West Coast in Arizona.
Snell is a Seattle native and did pitch last season in Southern California with the Padres.
All three seem like potential additions...if the checkbook is opened up.
