The Los Angeles Angels have been stuck in mediocrity for some time now, and much of that failure falls on the shoulders of owner Arte Moreno. Moreno was supposed to sell the Angels last year, but at the last minute decided to keep them, leaving fans feeling duped once again.

He isn’t the worst owner in sports, but Moreno has made many questionable decisions over the years. But super-agent Scott Boras recently praised Moreno for how passionate he is about winning in a strange comment.

“You want people in the game that are invested in it and in my meetings with Arte, he’s very much into it,” Boras said. “He likes it, likes to talk about the game and sit down and talk to you for four or five hours. So as long as you have passionate owners, and these things aren’t assets and you’re not an absentee owner, then I’m very much for those people being in the game.”

This feels like Boras praising an owner that he knows will spend a lot of money recklessly, and him trying to establish a relationship with him. Boras is all about getting his clients the most amount of money possible, and he has seen Moreno hand out some bad contracts in the past.

Most Angels fans would strongly disagree with Boras on his assessment about Moreno, as he is widely unpopular with the fanbase. He has made bad decision after bad decision over the years, and it has impacted his success on the field.

The one thing that you can’t put against Moreno is his willingness to spend money to land some of the higher-priced free agents, however. The Angels have never been shy about spending money in trying to field a winning team, but the majority of signings just haven’t panned out for this franchise.

The Angels have another interesting offseason coming up for them, and they have a lot of work to do. They want to end their long playoff drought and to do that, they will need to make sure that they put themselves in a spot to land some of the better players. However, they need to be careful with how who they sign, and for how much this time around.
