Recently Let-Go Angels Coach Finds New Home With AL Central Squad
The Angels are in the midst of major changes in the coaching ranks. When they brought in Barry Enright as the pitching coach, naturally he'd want to bring in his coaches with him.
That meant letting go of some of the names Angels' fans have gotten used to over the years. Former pitching coordinator Dylan Axelrod was one of those coaches, and he ended up signing with the Detroit Tigers in the same role.
Axelrod pitched in MLB from 2011 to 2015 with both the Reds and White Sox. He worked around the league before signing on with the Angels in 2020 as their pitching coordinator.
The Tigers recently opened this new position in their organization. Since the Angels have a new manager and pitching coach, it makes sense he would take an opportunity elsewhere.
In Detroit, he joins recently extended manager A.J. Hinch and pitching coach Gabe Ribas in their effort to help them develop their young pitching staff. We wish him all the luck in the world and thank him for his time with the Halos organization.
