Ron Washington Reveals Whether Angels Will Use 5 or 6-Man Rotation in 2024
New Angels manager Ron Washington knows the kind of pressure that has been placed on him to put together a more successful year this season. The Halos want to be competitive, while hopefully breaking their long playoff drought.
The front office knows that to make that a reality, they need quality starting pitching. It's why they've been looking at upgrading the position, even if nothing has come to fruition just yet.
The Angels have plenty of options to use at their disposal right now, and they have the choice of implementing a five or six-man rotation.
“We haven’t done any competing yet to make a decision like that,” Washington said, “but right off the bat I’ll say five.”

Having options is crucial for the Angels, and they have added some nice depth to their pitching ranks. However, they will likely be leaning on development this year, if they aren't able to land a premier starter during the offseason.
Halos starter Patrick Sandoval spoke about the increased work from the pitching this spring. He said he is excited to be on the field and wants to take the mound as much as he can this year.
“Super excited, honestly,” Sandoval said. “It adds four or five more starts at the end of the year. Perfect. I want to be on the field as much as I can to help this team win as much as I can."

Sandoval is a perfect example of a player that the Angels will need to continue improving. Starting pitchers like him will make or break this team, and the Halos are hoping for the former.
