Shohei Ohtani Thanks Angels Organization at Dodgers Introductory Press Conference
Shohei Ohtani is officially no longer a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He was formally introduced as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, which may hurt some fans to see.
Ohtani was the face of the Angels from the moment he joined, winning two MVP awards during his time. He meant everything to this organization, and it's clear that the Angels meant a lot to him.
During his introductory press conference with the Dodgers, Ohtani went ahead to thank the Angels for the past six years.
“It was a fun ride, great ride for the last six years.”
Per Shohei Ohtani
This is a classy move by Ohtani, and it shows how much he appreciated the Angels during his time there. He gave everything that he had with the Angels, but the results didn't pan out.
He tried to carry the Angels, but could only go as far as he could. The team had some bad injury luck, but there was also some mismanagement in how the entire team was run.
The Angels tried to spend money to put a strong team on the field, but it didn't work out. The team never made the playoffs one time during his tenure with them, and ultimately he wanted a change.
The Dodgers offer him a chance to win every single season, as they've made the postseason for 11 straight years. It's tough to see him wearing another team's jersey, but most fans will be cheering for his success.
We wish Shohei good luck with the Dodgers, except when LA plays the Angels, of course!
