The Los Angeles Angels' first camp of the new season has started, but position players haven't needed to show up just yet. They are scheduled to have physicals tomorrow, but a surprise position player showed up early on Saturday.

That would be third baseman Anthony Rendon, who has been in the news a lot over the winter. Rendon has had his drive to play baseball questioned, but his arriving early is a nice sign for the Halos.

"Third baseman Anthony Rendon arrived in camp on Saturday, a day before all the position players are scheduled to have physicals. The first full squad workout will be on Monday. …"

Per Jeff Fletcher of The OC Register

Rendon is going to be a key for the Angels this season, especially with Shohei Ohtani no longer on the roster. Alongside Mike Trout, Rendon is one of the main players in the Halos lineup, and they need him to produce.

The issue with him over the last couple of seasons has been his health. He hasn't been able to stay on the field, and it has hurt the team overall.

The hope is that Rendon can finally put together a solid season while with the Angels. With new manager Ron Washington in the mix, Rendon is expected to ramp up production from years past.

If he can remain on the field, the Angels may be able to be competitive next season. He is one of the more important pieces to the team this coming season, and we can't wait to see what the year has in store for him.
